Why teams call us

Hard-working teams, pulling in different directions.

Most leadership teams we meet are full of talented people who work hard. Somewhere in the growth, they stopped knowing each other the way they used to. Meetings got polite and guarded, priorities got fuzzy, and the plan from the last offsite faded by Wednesday.

We help leaders rebuild the connection, clarity and alignment their people need to do their best work together. Every engagement ties back to the business result you’re after, whether that’s retention, execution or revenue.

Leadership · Culture · AI

Three tools. One purpose.

Every company exists to serve a purpose. These are the tools for getting there, and each one is only as good as the problem it’s pointed at. We start with the outcome you want, name what’s in the way, then put the right tools to work.

Tool one

Leadership

A clear destination, the right people in the right seats, and a team that trusts each other enough to say what’s in the way.

Tool two

Culture

The behaviors your people repeat when no one is watching. Culture either helps you reach your goals or holds you back.

Tool three · the newest one

AI

12% of CEOs say AI has delivered both lower costs and higher revenue.

Most leaders hand AI to IT or a tiger team, and it stalls as a pile of pilots. The ones getting a return lead it themselves. We help you think like the AI architect of your company and point AI at the problems that matter most.

Asked what he would tell another president whose team was fragmented:

“My response is going to be the same. Give Mike and Brittany a call.”

Before

“We were relatively clear on high ideals, but not clear enough on particular priorities and how those priorities really needed to be driven into the day-to-day work.”Dr. Jonathan J. Sanford

During

Mike and Brittany interviewed every cabinet member one on one, then built the retreat around what they heard. The cabinet left with three shared priorities and the measures to track them.

After

Most retreat plans never get executed. We kept UD’s three priorities simple, clear and executable, and stayed in the work with the cabinet all year. Advancement had its best philanthropy year in 26 years.

Questions leaders ask

Before you call us.

The questions executives weigh before they bring in outside help, answered plainly.

Why not run the offsite ourselves?

Plenty of teams do, and our free Retreat Planning Guide will help. The hard part is the honesty. Leaders tell an outside facilitator things they won't say to their CEO, and that's what we build the retreat from. We interview every leader one on one before we design anything.

What if my team is skeptical?

Good. Skeptical leaders usually care the most about the result. We were executives ourselves, so we skip the trust falls and get to the real issues.

We tried a consultant before and nothing changed. Why would this be different?

Most offsites end with a long list and fade within two weeks. We keep the plan to two or three priorities your team writes itself, each with one owner and a way to measure it, and we put it in writing.

Should we hire a head of people instead?

Hire them if you need one. We'll help make them successful faster.

How big an engagement is this?

Most clients start with a single retreat for their leadership team, one to three days, after about three weeks of interviews. Everything after that is your choice.
